The do-file combine_vaccination_data first harmonises and appends all data sources which collected data on children's vaccination status in Karonga.
The vaccinations included are the standard schedule for Malawi:
BCG
Diptheria, Pertussis & Tetanus (DPT) 1-3
Hepatitis B & H. influenzae type b (HH) 1-3
Polio (P) 0-3
Pneumococcal conjugate vaccine (PCV) 1-3
Rotavirus (RV 1-2)
Measles 1&2
The data sources for this dataset are:
cen_individ : Initial baseline survey
crs_bfup : Follow-up of babies following initial census
crs_birth : Birth registrations
crs_cenm : In-migration
css_sei_all : Annual socio-economic survey
gp_va : Verbal autopsy
tmt_tmtv : Transmission of M. tb
ves_vese : Vaccine effectiveness study
There are some edits to the data as dates where the month is estimated as removed and any which fall before the birth date and the day is known to be estimated are changed to be 1 day after the DOB. Otherwise, beyond harmonising across the datasets, the data are appended together as collected and saved as all_vaccination_records.
In the variable labels (S) indicates that the variable is unchanged from the original source and (D) indicates that it is a 'derived' variable, often using more than one source variable. For both types information on where the data come from and how they are processed is found in the 'Recoding and Derivation' section
